Purpose

The Awaken 2026 Flight Fund exists to help city leads and city leadership teams attend who would otherwise struggle to come because of airfare costs, especially from higher-cost regions. Subsidies are available on an approval basis, so finances don’t have to be the reason you cannot attend.

Guiding principles

• The fund is limited and allocated by region.
• Stipends are approved individually and on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Everyone is encouraged to first consider what they and/or their sending church can contribute, then request support for the remaining gap.
• The goal is to enable broad global participation, prioritising those with the greatest financial need so more of our global community can be in the room.

Who can apply

• City leads and city leadership team members.
• Other participants may be considered if funds allow, but the priority is strategic leadership roles and those with clear financial need.

How it works

1. Register first
   • Complete your event registration and choose your ticket tier.
   • Select “Yes” for the flight stipend question.
2. Apply for a flight stipend
   • After registering, your confirmation email will include a link to an optional Flight Stipend Application.
3. Review and approval
   • Applications are reviewed every Friday against:
     • Regional caps and the overall Flight Fund.
     • Financial need.
     • Strategic role and contribution to the gathering.
   • Outcomes may be:
     • 100% stipend (up to the regional cap).
     • 50% stipend.
     • Not approved (if funds are fully committed or criteria are not met).
4. Booking process

• Applications are passed to our travel advisor, who:
  • Confirms that the itinerary fits within the approved stipend and regional cap.
  • Contacts you directly to finalise the booking within the next 7 working days.
  • Confirms the approved amount and next steps.
• Any flight cost above the approved stipend is covered by you or your sending church, and is invoiced directly by the travel advisor.

Changes and additional fees

Once a flight is booked through our travel advisor, any changes you request (date, route, airline, seat, etc.) may incur extra costs. Any additional fees will need to be covered by you or your sending church.
